O que é ZUMBIDO?
O zumbido, também denominado acúfeno, tinnitus ou tinido, é uma sensação de som percebido pelo indivíduo na ausência de uma fonte sonora externa. É uma das queixas de problemas no ouvido mais comum e freqüentemente vem associada com perda auditiva e tontura.
O zumbido pode ser considerado como um sintoma de alguma doença ou como seqüela de alguma agressão sofrida pelo ouvido (externo, médio, interno). Existe uma estimativa de que 15% a 17% da população apresentam zumbido. Naqueles pacientes que realmente sofrem com o zumbido (cerca de 20% dos casos), a queixa costuma ser dramática na consulta médica.
Felizmente, a maioria dos pacientes não sofre com o zumbido; referem-no secundariamente ou quando são inquiridos.
